Novo Mundo(s) exhibition at Favela Chic, London

Having finished in Paris and Marseille, the photography exhibition Novo Mundo(s) is to land in London in March 2009....

The photographs of Florent Demarchez, who has followed us throughout Brazil, reveal new initiatives from the Northeast of the country to the Amazonian rainforest, that fight for a different world.

The exhibition will be hosted by Favela Chic London, from March 6th to March 30th.

From Rio’s Favelas to the Tate Modern Gallery

Modern ghettos are results of how urbanism can overwhelm and dehumanize human beings.

The French artist “JR” encourages the inhabitants of these ghettos to take artistic revenge. Using a 28 millimeter camera, he takes pictures of people living in these areas and turns them into stickers that he fixes on the street walls.
